Art was a veteran who served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II where he would spend the next four years of his life without his new bride in the South Pacific surviving several landings, along with being sent to travel to Hiroshima 30 days after the war ended only to survive the after effects of the bomb.
After returning home from war, Art farmed with his brother Ernest, and while farming he and his brother started the Gibble Gas Station in 1955 and later sold it in 1959.
Art went to work for Ditch Witch as a Machinist and then retired after working there for twenty-five years.
Art was a wonderful provider; his work became his hobby even after retiring. He owned and operated Art’s Machine shop at his home working as a Machinist for many years. He enjoyed maintaining a vegetable garden, yearly. He was a carpenter by trade and managed to help build several homes throughout his lifetime along with the remodeling of several rental properties.
Art was a respected, admired, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed.
He was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church where he attended for many years and also served on the Church Council and the Cemetery Board for a number of years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
